Attractions
When talking about the history and attractions here in Schuylerville, you can easily fill up a few days just walking. Our history spans three centuries, but we are best known as the site of the Battles of Saratoga, the Turning Point of the American Revolution in the 1700’s. We were also a thriving Canal Town in the 1800’s and a Mill Town in the 1900’s. A good start is at the Village of Schuylerville Visitor’s Center, in Ft. Hardy Park or the Field of Grounded Arms, just up the block from the marina. From there you'll have directions to the Schuyler House and take a mile long walk along the Old Champlain Canal Towpath up to Lock 5 and see one of the oldest and intact Junction Locks from the old system. Return via Rte. 4 and Broad St. for a stop at Stark’s Knob geological site and down to Burgoyne St. and up to the Saratoga Monument and then return down Broad St. and return to the marina. A “Walking Guide” will help, and we have them for you.
